5 Ideas for Remodeling a Bathroom on a Budget
67
Remodeling the bathroom is a great way to give it a fresh and up-to-date appearance. Although you can certainly spend a lot of money remodeling your bathroom, it's also possible to remodel it on a budget and still end up with great results. Since the bathroom is usually one of the smallest rooms in the home, it can often be quite economical to remodel. If giving your bathroom a facelift is on your home improvement project list, here are five great ways to get the job done quickly and easily without breaking your budget in the process.
1. Add a Fresh Look with Color
If you want to give your bathroom a fresh new look without spending a lot of money, focus on adding color to the walls. Paint and wallpaper can both be used to give the bathroom a completely different appearance for a relatively small cost. Although paint is usually the least expensive route, using some wallpaper in the bathroom can also add an interesting touch. Try using wallpaper on only one wall of the room, or use wallpaper border. Either way, you’ll probably be surprised at how different your bathroom will look.
2. Update Your Fixtures
Even if you don’t have enough money budgeted to replace the sink and tub, you can give them a new look by adding new fixtures. If your sink and tub faucets are starting to look a bit tarnished and dingy, they could be detracting from the overall good looks of your bathroom. Choose new faucets and other bathroom fixtures in a contemporary style to add an updated look. You’ll find a wide variety of styles from which to choose, as well as a beautiful array of metal finishes.
3. Add Bathroom Storage Features
Adding new storage areas to your bathroom is a great way to get a lot of functional value for your remodeling dollar. For example, besides giving your bathroom an updated look, a new medicine cabinet can also provide you with more storage space. Adding a corner shelf or a wall shelf to the bathroom is another way to add a decorative look while also adding more storage. To add storage space without decreasing the overall size of the room, choose recessed cabinets or shelves.
4. Focus on Luxury in the Bathroom
Today’s hottest bathroom styles often focus on luxurious bathroom features. If you want to give your bathroom cutting edge style, add a few luxurious decorating touches. A dramatic chandelier, a pair of candle wall sconces or a beautiful mirror could economically transform your ho-hum bathroom into an elegant retreat.
5. New Towels and Bath Accessories
A new bathmat, shower curtain, towels and other accessories can really dress up your bathroom in a hurry. These items can give your bathroom a new look, without the need for any expensive construction or remodeling. Choose bath accessories in a fresh new color to spice up the room's overall decor and add new wall decor, such as cottage style painted wrought iron grilles or rustic Western wall art to finish the new look.
- How to Keep a Dorm Room Clean
While expensive coffee cup metal wall art or outdoor wall decorations are neither needed nor desired in a dorm room, keeping them neat and orderly is crucial.
- Solutions for Dressing a Basement Window
Basement windows can sometimes be difficult to dress properly, since they are high on the wall and squatty in size and shape.
