Retailers worldwide have thousands of different and effective ways to add or expand storage space, with price tags that range from just a few dollars to hundreds of dollars. The easiest solution to expanding storage space is with utility racks, which can offer a lot of advantages and very few disadvantages. While shopping for storage and utility racks may not be as much fun as trying to decide between for example, a sun metal sculpture or metal cranes art, utility racks offer a great deal of function to a home. There are many different units available through a wide variety of manufacturers, from popular names to store brands, and the cost varies based on the style, size, and brand name of each utility rack.

Floor-to-Ceiling Styles

If you have a large space to organize, or want to organize a closet effectively and efficiently, a floor-to-ceiling utility rack will give you a lot of room to work with and multi-functional designs. You can find models that offer a combination of hanging storage, shelving, and drawer storage, while others have these options plus hooks for added storage capacity. It depends on your needs, budget, and available space.

Floor-to-ceiling styles are usually very simple to put together, since most come in kits that are almost self-assembling. For the most part, this type of utility rack requires only hanging for assembly, then locking each level into place where you want it. Different models are assembled in different ways, though, and you should always follow the manufacturer’s assembly instructions for each utility rack.

Bin Utility Racks

Some utility racks are designed with several levels of bin storage, for organizing tools, crafts, children’s rooms, and similar spaces. This expands the storage space to increase the capacity of items that you can store, making it easy to find toys, craft items, specific tools, or accessories. Bin utility racks are a perfect idea for teenagers’ rooms as well, adding room for keeping many different objects that they use on a daily basis.

Bin-style storage is the best idea for daycares or for those who babysit frequently, since you can store each child’s items in a separate bin without having to worry about mixing up items. If you have several children, it is a great way to organize toys by child’s name, so that you limit fighting over what belongs to whom and where it should be placed at the end of each day. This makes your life as a parent or primary caregiver much easier, and this effective storage method is one of the most popular uses of a utility rack.

Heavy Duty Utility Racks

Your attic, basement, or garage could use a heavy duty utility rack for keeping a wide variety of items stored safely and conveniently, from out-of-season clothing to accessories that are unused but wanted, such as bowling balls, antique items, heirloom furniture, and more. Most are made of steel, and come in a variety of styles, from simple utility hooks to shelving, combinations, and more. These may cost a bit more than some other styles, but if you want to do a lot of storing or plan to organize a large space it is worth the investment.
